Have you struggled to lose weight? Has maintaining an exercise routine been challenging? Are you an athlete or a competitive runner/cyclist trying to gain an edge? Metabolic Testing can help you reach your fitness and competition goals!

How Does it Work?

For every liter of oxygen your body consumes and uses, you burn 5 calories. Metabolic Testing measures your respiration to determine and measure how many liters of oxygen your body uses at rest and during exercise. Carbon dioxide expiration is also measured during the exercise test. This will measure your body’s specific metabolism at different exercise intensities. No longer will you need to rely on estimates regarding diet and exercise!

Resting Metabolic TestResting Test

This test is passive and is completed by simply resting in a chair for 20-25 minutes. Your respiration is measured throughout the test. By measuring your body’s oxygen consumption, we can measure your specific metabolism. You can now create a nutrition plan that’s specific to you and not based on a number estimated based on your age, gender and weight.

Your purchase includes the test, all necessary testing equipment, as well as a consultation with a metabolic specialist. During the consultation, the specialist will review your results and help you create a plan help you reach your fitness goals!

Exercise Metabolic TestExercise Testing

This test is performed on a treadmill or bike. The test is usually about 12 minutes long but can be anywhere from 8 to 20 minutes in length. During the test, your oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide expiration are measured. With this, we can measure total caloric expenditure as well as the fuel source, fat versus carbohydrate, used at different intensities. This also indicates whether you are exercising aerobically (efficiently) or anaerobically (inefficiently) which allows us to determine heart rate training zones that will improve your performance.

Please note that this is a sub-max test so you will NOT be taken to max effort or exertion. Each individual is taken to a speed and intensity they are comfortable with. Maximal effort testing is an option for those wanting to test their VO2max. Speak with your metabolic specialist if you are interested in measuring your VO2max.

Your purchase includes the test, all necessary testing equipment, as well as a consultation with a metabolic specialist. During the consultation, the specialist will review your results and help create a training plan specific to your body’s exercise metabolism
